CMS Indoor Time Tri-al Spring Series

________________________________________________________________________

The Dorchester YMCA has graciously opened their doors to CMS for a NEW indoor time tri-al series for the beginner, advanced and relay team triathlete.  This series of workouts will keep you focused on fitness through the winter and into the spring…AND HAVE FUN.  This indoor timed triathlon series is a THREE event series.  Not a race...just measurement tool to mark progress...AND HAVE FUN, no pressure.    However, with multiple participants, the effort level will always be accelerated...it’s a group thing.

How it works?  The time is the constant; the distance you travel in the allotted time is your measurement.  Swim your allotted time - record your distance traveled…move to indoor spin bike, nothing but perceived exertion to record here unless you bring your own digital recording devices on your own bike and trainer…move to the 1 mile loop around the Y- record distance completed.  Then, go to breakfast, place to be determined at a later date.

Limited to 18 CMS members per wave

You MUST preregister because space is assigned and limited.  The Dorchester YMCA is prepared to save you a spot in Wave 1 (15 min swim/45 min bike/20 min run) or Wave 2 (10 min swim/30 min bike/15 min run)  You can register a relay team in one slot but the cost is still per person not per team.  Registration is first come, first served, CMS members only

Registration opens Wednesday, February 3:  Call Dorchester Y 410-221-0505 to register.  When you sign up, you are signed up for all three events.

You are responsible for recording your own data.  A community document is available to record and compare data:

FAQ’s

Q. I have no idea what my 100 yard pace is in the pool?  As a matter of fact, I have no idea what you are talking about.

A. NO WORRIES, WE HAVE A LANE FOR YOU.

Q. Can I use swim aids?

A. YES, THERE IS NO DQ’ING, AS LONG AS THE AID DOES NOT IMPEDE ANOTHER SWIMMERS PROGRESS.  EX – NO SURFBOARDS, HOWEVER IS THIS GOING TO IMPROVE YOUR SWIMMING SKILLS?

Q. Can I bring my own bike, with my own rollers, to document my ride data?

A. YES, YOU BRING IT, YOU SET IT UP, YOU TAKE CARE OF THE DETAILS, AND YES YOU CAN!  BUT YOUR BIKE NEEDS TO BE UP AND READY TO GO BEFORE YOUR SWIM WAVE START.  PREFERABLY AT THE 7:00 AM OPENING OF THE Y.

Q. What about transition time?  Is it separate from the swim, bike, and run time?

A. NO TRANSISTIONS ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR SWIM, BIKE RUN TIME ALLOTMENTS.  YOUR WAVE TIME STARTS AT A SPECIFIED TIME WHAT YOU DO IN THAT TIME IS UP TO YOU.  I SUGGEST YOU GET THE MOST DONE IN THE TIME ALLOTED TO GET YOU PREPARED FOR THE REAL THING ONE DAY.  TRANSITIONS SHOULD BE PLANNED AND SWIFT.

Q. How do I have a fast transition?

A. BE PREPARED.  SET UP YOUR TRANSITIONS; KNOW YOUR BIKE SETTINGS, ETC.

Q. Is this a race?

A. NO, IT IS A STRUCTURED GROUP WORKOUT THAT WILL GIVE YOU COMPARABLE DATA TO STRUCTURE YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES IN TRIATHLON AND GAUGE YOUR FITNESS PROGRESS; HOWEVER, WHEN EVER YOU TRAIN IN A GROUP THE EFFORT LEVEL IS ALWAYS ACCELERATED.
